Couples Therapy

When we feel secure and connected in our intimate relationship we are more resilient during life's challenges. Knowing that you can rely on your partner for comfort and support is a human need. When we are hurt we can act in ways that push our partner away despite yearning for connection.

I practice through the lens of attachment theory and use the model of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy to guide my work. Couples therapy is a collaborative process. I believe that each member of a couple has a part in what is difficult and what works in a relationship. We will help you identify your negative cycle: your thoughts, feelings and actions, that trigger you to act in ways that disconnect you from your partner. I strive to help you improve your communication skills and will help you develop a more secure and meaningful relationship.

Sometimes the process of couples therapy helps us determine that our relationship is no longer working. Being able to end your couplehood in a meaningful way can help you and your partner honor your relationship and begin the process of your individual healing.
